Abed Kareem Musaffar is a rising fourth year Mechanical Engineering student attending the University of California, Santa Barbara. Passionate about materials and aerospace engineering, he is currently an undergraduate researcher within the Daly Group focusing on the characterization of damage accumulation in ceramic matrix composites -- a class of high temperature and high strength materials well suited for aerospace applications. Abed’s work utilizes high resolution microscopy and machine learning approaches to develop novel methods of analysis for sub-micron sized cracks within CMCs, towards drawing conclusions about predicted behavior.
