Alanis M. Matías Pérez is a Chemical Engineering undergraduate student at the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez (UPRM). She is the Co-Lead of the Engine Development Department at Loxodon-1, where they are developing the first liquid rocket engine in Puerto Rico. She is also an Engineer Ambassador and the Vice President of the local chapter of the Society of Women in Space Exploration (SWISE-UPRM) where she empowers the next generation of STEM students as well as delivers the message that space is for everyone. In the last 2 years, Alanis has gained experience in propulsion engineering and ISRU concepts in multidisciplinary projects, topics which she intends to pursue in her career.
