Omar Elhayes is a fourth year Aerospace Engineering student at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Following the completion of his degree, he will be pursuing a M.S. in Aerospace Engineering from the same university. He is currently an engineer in LASSI where he helps develop software and hardware for Nanosatellite missions. He has also worked as a tutor to help fellow engineering students in computer science, physics, and math. Omar is mainly interested in control systems as applied to satellites and spacecraft. Having immigrated to the US from Egypt when he was seven, he is passionate about Middle Eastern and North African (MENA) student engagement in STEM.
