Sophia Balabanova-Gebreab is a third-year student who is currently pursuing a BA in media arts and design with a minor in astronomy and astrophysics and an MA in digital humanities from the University of Chicago. She is interested in work that lies at the intersection of aerospace and the arts and as such is often involved in projects that communicate scientific concepts through theater, visual media, and written work. Outside of work and school, much of her time goes into creating new issues of her zine and mentoring middle and high school students.
